National Grange of the Patrons of Husbandry

Старейшая фермерская организация страны. Основана в 1867. В 1870-е возглавляла движение грейнджеров [Granger movement] в борьбе с железнодорожными монополиями, установившими высокие цены на перевозку и хранение сельхозпродукции. Строилась по типу масонской ложи, но принимала в свои ряды как мужчин, так и женщин. Местные отделения назывались "грейндж" [grange]. В 1876 (пик ее деятельности) насчитывала в своих рядах более 858 тыс. членов, но к 1880 в ее составе оставалось только 124,4 тыс. человек. К этому времени организация отказалась от политической программы и вернулась к первоначальной программе реформ в социальной сфере и образовании. В качестве главной своей задачи сегодня рассматривает поддержку законов различного уровня, направленных на поддержку фермеров. Насчитывает 400 тыс. членов. Представляет интересы населения сельских районов США, ведет активную информационно-просветительскую деятельность, способствует реализации социальных и образовательных программ. Среди публикаций: еженедельник "Вашингтон апдейт" [Washington Update], ежемесячники "Грейндж ньюслеттер" [Grange Newsletter] и "Вью фром зе хилл" [View From the Hill].
